Following only: A simpler way to see posts you chose
NoLoop's Following only opens Instagram in the Following feed, so you can view posts from accounts you follow.
Instagram can be useful for staying close to friends, following creators, finding ideas, and keeping up with communities you care about. But opening it can also quickly turn into something else: a stream of recommended posts selected to hold your attention.
NoLoop’s new Following only feature gives you a calmer starting point. When it is enabled, opening Instagram’s home/posts view automatically takes you to Instagram’s Following feed. In plain language, you only view posts from accounts you follow.
It is a small change, but it can make Instagram feel more like the tool you intended to use.
The difference between a home feed and a Following feed
Instagram’s regular home feed may include posts from accounts you follow alongside recommended posts. Those recommendations can come from accounts you have not chosen to follow, based on activity and signals within Instagram.
Sometimes those recommendations are genuinely interesting. Other times, they pull you into content you did not open Instagram to see.
Instagram’s Following feed is different. It is designed around posts from accounts you already follow. That might include close friends, family, favorite photographers, small businesses, artists, journalists, and creators you have chosen to keep up with.
The difference is simple. A recommended home feed can introduce posts Instagram thinks may interest you. A Following feed centers the accounts you intentionally chose to follow.
Following only does not change Instagram’s algorithm or remove recommendations from every part of Instagram. Instead, it changes where you land when you open Instagram’s home/posts view in Safari, directing you to the Following feed first.
That gives your own choices a little more room to lead.
How Following only works in NoLoop
Following only is a NoLoop setting for Instagram in Safari on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Once you turn it on, NoLoop detects when you open Instagram’s home/posts view and automatically redirects it to Instagram’s Following feed. The destination is Instagram’s own Following view, where you can see posts from accounts you follow.
You do not need to remember to switch feeds each time. You simply open Instagram as usual, and NoLoop takes you to a more intentional default.
This is especially useful if you already like Instagram for specific reasons but do not want every quick check-in to begin with a broad set of recommendations.
NoLoop is built around practical boundaries, not all-or-nothing restrictions. You can still use Instagram for the things that matter to you. Following only simply helps make the main feed feel more aligned with your intent.
A better default for checking in with friends
Many people open Instagram to see what friends are doing. Maybe you want to catch up on a friend’s new baby photos, see where someone traveled over the weekend, or check in on people who matter to you. In those moments, recommendations can be a detour.
Following only makes it easier to arrive at the posts from people you already know and follow. You can check in, respond, and move on without first sorting through a feed full of unfamiliar accounts.
It is not about making Instagram less social. It is about making the social part easier to reach.
Keep up with creators you intentionally follow
Instagram can be a valuable place to follow people whose work you enjoy. You may follow a designer for inspiration, a chef for recipes, a local business for updates, or a writer whose work you trust. Those are deliberate choices. Following only helps put those choices closer to the front.
Instead of beginning with an open-ended recommended feed, you begin with the people and accounts you invited into your feed.
That can be particularly helpful when you are looking for something specific. If you opened Instagram for ideas from your favorite creators, a Following feed is a more direct place to start.
Reduce accidental scrolling
Most accidental scrolling does not begin with a plan to spend an hour online. It often starts with a quick check.
You open Instagram to look up one post, reply to someone, or see what is new. Then a recommended post catches your attention. Another follows. Before long, the original reason you opened the site is gone.
Following only cannot decide how you use Instagram. What it can do is reduce one common source of drift: landing immediately in a feed shaped by recommendations.
Starting with accounts you follow makes it easier to remember why you opened Instagram in the first place. You can still browse, explore, and choose what to do next. But the first screen is more likely to reflect your own decisions.
For many people, that is enough to make a quick visit feel more deliberate.
How to turn it on
- Open NoLoop
- Select Custom protection
- Open Posts
- Enable Following only
The next time you open Instagram’s home/posts view in Safari, NoLoop will direct it to the Following feed. You can turn the setting off at any time if you prefer to return to Instagram’s regular home view.
Privacy-conscious by design
Following only works locally on your device. Your NoLoop settings stay on your device, and your browsing data does not leave it.
NoLoop does not need to collect your Instagram browsing activity to redirect the home/posts view to the Following feed. The feature is designed to be useful without asking you to trade away more personal data.
That approach reflects NoLoop’s broader purpose: helping you use Instagram with more intention while keeping useful parts of the experience available.
Use Instagram for what you came for
There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep up with people, ideas, and communities on Instagram. The challenge is making sure the experience still serves the reason you opened it.
Following only gives you a straightforward default: only view posts from accounts you follow.
Try NoLoop in Safari and see whether a more intentional starting point makes your Instagram time feel a little more yours.
