How NoLoop protects Instagram in Safari.
NoLoop has two parts: the app where you choose your rules, and the Safari extension that applies those rules on instagram.com.
1. Enable the Safari extension
Turn on NoLoop for instagram.com. You can then use Instagram in the browser with your protection rules active.
2. Choose a protection style
Pick Gentle, Strict, Nuclear, or Reflection depending on how much protection you want. Each setting is designed to turn a continuous stream into a sequence with a clear boundary: a moment where continuing is an active choice rather than the default.
Gentle allows a limited run of Reels before checking in. Strict blocks Reels. Nuclear blocks posts and Reels. Reflection adds intentional pauses after posts and every five Reels.
3. Tune individual surfaces
Control Home Feed, posts, Reels, Explore, Stories, and video behavior independently. You can also choose whether video plays normally, stays paused until you choose it, or is hidden altogether. With manual play, doing nothing means the video does not start—an intentionally different default from autoplay.
4. Keep useful paths open
NoLoop is designed to preserve practical Instagram use in Safari, including Messages, profiles, notifications, and search.
5. Track local impact
NoLoop can show interventions, blocked scroll loops, stopped videos, active days, and estimated minutes of attention returned.
Rules and impact data are stored locally and shared only between the app and its Safari extension.
Why boundaries matter
NoLoop is informed by research on design friction, stopping cues, and digital self-regulation. The aim is not to shame people or make a simplistic claim about “dopamine.” It is to give an automatic sequence a small pause where you can decide what happens next. Read the research and its limits.
